Most people think of nostalgia as a warm and fuzzy feeling, something that brings comfort in familiarity. But it can also be harmful, when it causes its victim to constantly live in the past, running in circles instead of enjoying the present. The song is a reminder that although preserving memories is important, one should concentrate on today and building the future.
Whether you think the music is not as good as it used to be, want to make America great again or just can’t get over that person who’s now happily married and has kids with somebody else, maybe it’s time for you to stop looking back and enjoy every moment in the present.
lyrics
Memories and thoughts of what could have been
Drowning you in misery like tidal waves
Cold immersion to the depths of your existence
Where you indulge in chasing yesterdays
Stop looking back
Breathing the air of the past
You’re the victim of your whole life passing by
No harm, no foul, nobody’s gonna cry
Nostalgia drags you down the rabbit hole
The bittersweet intoxication wearing off
Rough awakening from the same mistakes you’re making
Will leave you wondering if you’ve had enough
Stop looking back
Breathing the air of the past
You’re the victim of your whole life passing by
No harm, no foul, nobody’s gonna cry
Lost in the haze, stuck in a loop
Wasting away, feel the decay swallowing you
Running a red light into a dead end
Deer in the headlights can’t see the threat
Ah, can’t see the threat
Stop looking back
Breathing the air of the past
You’re the victim of your whole life passing by
No harm, no foul, nobody’s gonna cry
Stop looking back
Breathing the air of the past
You’re the victim of your whole life passing by
No harm, no foul, nobody’s gonna cry
Lost in the haze, stuck in a loop
Wasting away, feel the decay swallowing you
Running a red light into a dead end
Deer in the headlights can’t see the threat
